With private river access to the pristine Nueces, you can tube, kayak, fish, or just hang out in the water in and around Arrowhead. Vehicles are permitted all the way to the river gate toward the back of the property, and from there it’s a less than 2-minute walk down to the river front. If you have concerns about accessibility to the river, please let us know when you book.
Whether your goal is to chill and relax, or go and do, Camp Wood is the ideal family vacation spot.
Camp Wood is a cozy town in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Just under 6 hours from DFW & Lubbock, under 5 hours from Houston, 3.5 hours from Austin, and 2.5 hours from San Antonio – wherever you come from, it’s a road trip through beautiful hill country in the heart of Texas.
Sitting on the pristine Nueces river, this tiny town is a must-visit destination for nature lovers. Grab a kayak or canoe available to rent on site to paddle the river – we can coordinate drop off or pick up along one of the many available routes - and you won’t believe how clear the waters of the Nueces run. Fish, swim, or just soak in the water along our private river access and blue swimming hole at the mouth of the creek.
The Three Sisters and Three Brothers loops, near the top of anyone’s list, weave through massive timbered hills, steep cliffs, and secluded valleys and streams, making these roads a must-visit for bikers and car enthusiasts.
Nearby axis, whitetail, and turkey hunting, as well as exotic animal ranches, make Camp Wood a great destination for hunters as well.
While you stay, stop by local restaurants for Tex Mex or barbecue, or branch out to other towns in the canyon for more food & shopping.
Essential groceries are available at Get-N-Go or Family Dollar less than a mile down the road or visit larger grocery stores in nearby Rocksprings & Uvalde.
